Includes tour of a working archeological site, hands on activities,   lunch, tour of facility. (Wednesdays and Thursdays only) Reservations should be made ahead.

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad

In addition to the popular all-day trip to Silverton and back, many special events are offered:

Thomas the Tank: arrives June 17 - 20 for lots of kid friendly fun.

Railfest: August 24 - 28

Mountain Express Family Adventure Train - a great family alternative to the all day trip. Ride to Cascade Canyon, learn about native flora & wildlife, nature studies and fire ecology. Explore the Discovery Trail and meet Smokey Bear! Goodie bags are provided for all youth onboard! The Mountain Express departs Durango at 11:00 am, returning at 4:40pm.
